Ranges of Punishment

Misdemeanor Ranges of Punishment in County Court

Class A – 0 to 1 year in county jail and/or up to a $4,000 fine
Class B – 0 to 6 months in county jail and/or up to a $2,000 fine

Municipal/Justice of the Peace Misdemeanor
Class C – Punishable by fine only

Felony Ranges of Punishment in District Court

Felony 1 – 5 years to 99 years or life in the state penitentiary and/or up to a $10,000 fine
Felony 2 – 2 years to 20 years in the state penitentiary and/or up to a $10,000 fine
Felony 3 – 2 years to 10 years in the state penitentiary and/or up to a $10,000 fine

State Jail Felony – 6 months to 2 years in a state jail facility and/or up to a $10,000 fine
